Beautiful antique mahogany book mill with particularly beautiful marquetry. Inlaid with satin wood. Super quality book mill from the famous english 19th century furniture maker maple & co. With the characteristic cast iron base. Nice color and appearance. Origin: england, Period approx. 1900. Size: 49cm X 49cm X h.80cm. The maker maple & co was by the end of the victorian period (ca. 1880) the most important manufacturer of quality furniture in the world. The firm has furnished, among other things, the winter palace of tsar nicholas, the hofburg palace in vienna, all major english embassies around the world, countless country houses and large hotels. Everyone important by the end of the 19th century had their furniture made by maple & co. The quality and craftsmanship of this furniture is exceptionally beautiful.
