Very beautiful bookcase in flamed mahogany veneer. Marquetry. Quality workmanship from the very beginning of the 20th century, comparable to the work of the faurbourg st antoine, in paris, where all the cabinetmakers gathered. It opens with two large glass doors. The one on the left is fixed with a hook on the middle shelf while the one on the right closes everything with a two-point brass lock and its beautiful original gilded key. The lock is a little capricious at times but works perfectly. We also note the discreet original keyhole. The windows are period, and we enjoy looking at them sideways to spot all the almost imperceptible wavelets inherent in the manufacturing method. There is a very small chip of half a cm on the surface of the left window. Not significant. Inside, 4 original shelves, solid and with blackened and rounded edges for a pleasing connection to the eye. The door bottoms and the pediment are inlaid with a blond mahogany fillet and the molded cornice features a "grotesque" motif (repeated) alternating two shades of wood. The moldings are all present. There is slight sun exposure on the left side. Traces of wear from use but excellent general condition. Space-saving, practical and very aesthetic, it can find its place in a living room, an office or a bedroom. L: 108 cm (overall). H: 168.5 cm. D: 33 cm.
