Antique bistro chair made of solid beech wood, featuring a traditional star-woven straw seat. This simple and robust model was commonly used in cafés, taverns, and brasseries in Alsace and the north-east of France in the early 20th century. The slightly curved backrest, composed of a wide upper rail and a curved central rail, rests on a sturdy structure reinforced by side stretchers. The wood has a beautiful honey-brown patina that reveals the natural grain of the beech. The natural straw seat shows visible wear with slightly frayed and lightened areas, typical of prolonged use, without compromising the overall stability of the chair. The structure remains sound and stable. This type of chair was designed for intensive use in public establishments, which explains its simple, solid, and functional design.
