Mirror gilded wood 18th century 20x51cm

Mirror in linden wood gilded with leaf, period eighteenth century. Mercury tain (slight oxidations). Original gilding (superficial cracks). Parquet on the reverse in softwood. Model of oval shape, embellished in the lower part with two slightly asymmetrical windings and a shell (sober decoration louis xv). 50.5 X 19.5 cm. The narrow format of this mirror intended it to be placed between two windows. (said mirror of between two). There is a small yoke of round gilded wood in the center of the shell: this piece of wood was brought back to the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century as a replacement for a branch candle holder whose light was reflected in the mirror in the 18th century.
