This ceramic cheese platter injects an organic and graphic note into mid-century table arts. Its striking trompe-l'œil decor faithfully imitates the veining, growth rings, and characteristic knots of olive wood. This period piece comes from the craftsmanship of the Vallauris workshops of the 1960s, reviving the emblematic production of the Grandjean Jourdan house, which often left certain series without apparent signatures on the base. The platter is coated with a glossy, smooth honey-yellow glaze that contrasts with the textured edge, shaped in relief to simulate a naturally bleached bark. The center features its original removable handle made of twisted matte black wrought iron, a functional attribute typical of this period that facilitates serving on a sideboard or a character table.
