Antique Middle Victorian coffee table in bronze and papier-mâché, England, 19th century.

Table top, England, second half of the 19th century. Made of finely chased and gilded bronze with a papier-mâché top. Four dragon-winged supports with goat feet, connected by a crossbar with a pinnacle, support a top adorned with gilded bronze applications in the rococo style. The top is signed "Jennet & Bettridge London" surmounted by a crown. This is one of the most important manufacturers of furniture and papier-mâché objects, a company that exhibited at the most significant world exhibitions of the 19th century. On the cover of the book "japanned papier maché and tinware" is a drawing of the 1851 World Exhibition, depicting the Jennens & Bettridge stand.
