A pair of tubular pewter pitcher vases with flattened bellies, decorated with a naked young woman, a flowering branch forming the handle Signed W. HERING (on the base) Foundry mark ETTLINGER Frères under the base Some wear and lack of patina on one (see photos) Period: circa 1900 Height 21.5 cm Ref adequantik 2110830 Elsie Ward HERING (1872-1923), American sculptor. A student of Preston Powers in Denver, she became involved in the artistic and community life of the city by participating in the Denver's Woman Club, the Denver School of Arts and the Denvers Artist Club. She continued her career in New York and collaborated in particular on the Seated Lincoln in Grant Park, Chicago, by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. She took the name of her husband, the sculptor Henry Hering, after their marriage in 1910.
