Natural history plate, "The Butterflies of Europe", after Pietro Scattaglia, XVIIIth

Reproduction on panel of an antique engraving signed in the plate, inspired by an original of the eighteenth after pietro scattaglia, enhanced with watercolor. Different species of European butterflies are represented. The board is offered in a gilded wooden frame inspired by Louis xvi, under anti uv treated glass. The frame is 58 cm high and 41 cm wide. The engraving is in an excellent state of conservation. The frame shows traces of age-related wear. View detail photos. This setting decorated the walls of a prestigious hotel, Place Vendôme in Paris.
