Pair of ceramic hands Vallauris - Ref 955

Pair of hands (bookends) in green glazed ceramic from Vallauris from the 1950s-60s. Created in the spirit of Vallauris artistic ceramics, they are not mirror images of each other (nor, as is often seen, two identical models facing each other); they are indeed two different sculptures, a right hand and a left hand, distinctly separate and completely different. These hands are traditionally used as bookends, but for these, the quality of their craftsmanship, the incredible colour, and their impeccable condition lead me to believe they deserve to be treated more as a sculpture or a work of art in their own right!
