A large vessel hand built in stoneware by Betty Blandino (1927-2011). An asymmetrical form with a lilac coloured panel over a textured surface, impressed with the potter's mark to the base. Born in London in 1927, Blandino became a full time potter in 1973 after studying painting and pottery at Goldsmiths College. She used the hand building techniques of coiling and pinching to create thin walled sculptural vessels. Blandino exhibited widely at institutions including the Victoria & Albert Museum and Oxford's Ashmolean. She is the author of 'Coiled Pottery, Traditional and Contemporary Ways' and 'The Figure in Fired Clay'. Dimensions (cm, approx): Height: 36.5, Width: 34, Depth: 25. Condition: Some very small chips/nibbles to the rim, accretions and an area with black specks. General wear and tear.
