This cabriolet armchair bears the prestigious stamp of the renowned cabinetmaker Matthieu CRAIERD (1689-1776), who was received as a master on 29 July 1738! Coming from a long line of cabinetmakers, he settled in Faubourg St Antoine and distinguished himself by the quality of his creations. The Anticstore website specifies: "The style of Mathieu Criaerd is characterised by beautifully crafted and refined Louis XV furniture." His works can be found in numerous art books as well as in the Louvre and Versailles. This moulded beech armchair does not betray its reputation, as its proportions and decorations are full of lightness and elegance. The curved legs, expertly sculpted, seem to be the natural extension of the undulating apron adorned with sculpted floral elements. The armrests, with their natural curls, are decorated with havana leather arm pads, like the rest of the upholstery. The latter is recent, of course, and of very high quality. The upholstery nails also trace fascinating lines around the entire perimeter of the armchair. As beautiful from the front as from the side, its seat is in perfect condition and usable as is. The stamp is engraved under the seat. Aside from a few surface scratches on the leather and some old, professional repairs (notably at the attachment of the right armrest), it is in superb condition, solid, perfectly stable, and very comfortable. A small piece from the era of Louis XV! H: 85 cm. W: 62 cm. D: 52 cm. Seat height: 44 cm. The price is firm, thank you. Delivery possible in IDF for 40 euros.
