An elegant rare Danish oak secretary in baroque style, made in the 1930s by a qualified Danish cabinetmaker. The piece features a drop-down writing surface that opens to reveal a richly functional interior with two shelves, eight small drawers, and a larger storage compartment – ideal for organising documents, writing materials, or even serving as a discreet home office. Designed as a unique piece for a manor in Hellerup, Copenhagen. The owner had close ties with Axel Salto and it was reputed as a highly sought-after desk in artistic circles. The exterior showcases the grandeur of baroque revival design with bold proportions, a finely carved geometric border framing the drop-down surface, and robust turned baluster legs connected by stretchers. The warm grain of the oak adds a timeless presence while the brass fittings provide refined decorative accents. This collectible item complements many interior styles including Antique, classic, mid-century modern, Scandinavian, or Art Deco.
