The Man Who Walks in the Night

The man who walks in the night, lithograph by gisiger. Frame 60x60 cm. Hansjorg gisiger is a swiss sculptor and engraver. He was also professor of art history at the university of lausanne and writer. He rubbed shoulders with artists andré masson, brancusi, giacometti... According to him, "for a work of art to be able to concern the spectators through time and space, the excitement or the idea that aroused it must be imbued with love, revolt or death." Quite a program! I understand that to arouse an emotion in the spectator, there must be an emotion at the genesis of the work. The emotion that we perceive in a work makes us empathize with it. In turn, we empathize with the emotion that the artist felt while creating. I think it's amazing and great.
