François Geoffroi ROUX (1811-1882) "Frigate HMS Majesty's Ship Amelia" Was a Hébé-class frigate, armed with 38 cannons, of the French Navy built in Brest in 1782. It was renamed by the Royal Navy after its capture the same year by the HMS Dryad off the coast of Cap Clear in Ireland. It served until 1811 under the British flag. Watercolour signed and titled at the bottom right. Dimensions 42 X 34 cm. A frame from the early 19th century circa 1820 is included. Provenance: - Private French collection. A certificate of authenticity will be provided to the buyer. Taxes and customs duties are included in the shipping costs for international shipments.
