Large vintage planter by Willy Guhl for Eternit, 1950s Switzerland. Made from Guhl’s characteristic fibre cement, the planter has a beautifully simple, sculptural form with a wide, shallow bowl. This example is particularly interesting as it retains its original matching pedestal base, a feature that is less commonly found with these planters today. The raised base gives the piece a strong architectural presence while keeping the elegant proportions of the original design. Both the planter and base have developed a rich, natural patina from years of use and exposure. Variations in colour, weathering, surface marks and traces of moss and lichen contribute to its authentic vintage character and have deliberately been left untouched. A timeless piece of mid-century Swiss design, suitable for use indoors or outdoors. Its generous dimensions make it particularly well suited as a statement planter on a terrace, in a garden, entrance hall or other spacious interior. Measurements: Height: 29 cm Diameter: 101 cm
