Scandinavian metal and frosted glass wall lamp, early 1900s

Patinated metal wall lamp with a female figure and ornamental scroll motifs, completed by a circular frosted glass light shield. Scandinavian production, early 1900s. Dating from the early decades of the 1900s, this Scandinavian wall lamp features an elaborate patinated metal element modelled with a female figure, flanked by large symmetrical vegetal scrolls. Behind it, the large circular frosted glass light shield diffuses the light and creates a distinct contrast with the sculptural character and green patina of the metal. The figurative vocabulary and flowing ornamentation recall the Art Nouveau influence still present in Nordic decorative arts at the beginning of the century.
