Antique display cabinet in solid wood and glass. France, late 19th – early 20th century. Antique display cabinet in solid wood, probably walnut or dark fruitwood. Front with double glass doors, framed by fluted columns and highlighted with moulding work. The upper and lower rails are decorated with a motif of fluting. Classic cornice. The lower part consists of two drawers, one at the waist and the other hidden behind the doors, equipped with brass ring handles, either original or replaced in keeping with the style. The piece rests on short turned feet. The interior, painted white, is fitted with four shelves that can be placed at different heights thanks to a system of notches, ideal for displaying crockery, glassware, or decorative objects. Lock with key. The exterior in wood, previously painted white, has been stripped back. This type of display cabinet, which can serve as a bookcase or china cabinet, was intended for dining rooms or reception rooms, where it was used to showcase precious everyday items. Height: 216 cm. Width: 113 cm. Depth: 44 cm. Structure is sound and stable. Wear, marks, and small irregularities visible on the wood, consistent with age and use. Glass panels in good condition. A hole on the lower right part of the back allows for cable passage. Small repaired veneer chips.
