Faïencerie d'art de marlotte. Emile sparkling marlotte. Amphora-style vase with three handles. Sandstone. H: 22 cm. Signed 'e.m. Marlotte on base' In perfect condition. This vase in gray / green tones, corresponds to a production of amphora vases, inspired by antiquity. In parallel with the constitution of the colony of barbizon, some painters are attracted by the village of marlotte. The first artists, notably caruelle d'aligny and jean-baptiste corot, arrived in 1822 and discovered barbizon, chailly and marlotte. The attraction for marlotte increased over the years among these artists, and some began to settle there like eugène cicéri. The potter emile mousseux settled around 1902 in marlotte, and remained open until 1933.
