Mythical halogen floor lamp with dimmer MPC "Thank you Pierre Chareau" in first edition Lumen Center This floor lamp is vintage, was bought in the 80s and not a recent edition Very good condition works perfectly  Gilles Derain: French designer, born in 1944. He is co-founder and artistic director of Lumen Center. At twenty, he is a broker in master paintings. Subsequently, he decided to train in design by an unusual method: the flea market. He has gradually become a renowned and infallible specialist in the history of the decorative arts. He was also among the first to discover the creators of the UAM, Union of Modern Artists. Gilles Derain was also the forerunner of the "black epoxy sheet" syndrome, a movement that marked the mid-1980s with a saturated and mannered artistic "japanisation". Among his many works (lamps, furniture, carpets, jewelry ...), some pieces have earned him an international commercial success: this is the case of the street lamp "MPC Pierre Chareau thank you" he made in 1979 and now belongs to the collection of the Museum of Decorative Arts of Montreal.
