Victorian plate Hancock Whittingham "Asiatic Pheasants" 28 cm

Victorian presentation plate in English ironstone decorated with Asiatic Pheasants, made by Hancock, Whittingham & Co. In Burslem (Staffordshire), between 1862 and 1872, during which time the factory used this trading name. The decoration is printed in blue under glaze, featuring the famous Asiatic Pheasants pattern, one of the most iconic designs of 19th-century English pottery. Original stamp "Asiatic Pheasants – H W & Co" on the reverse. In good condition. There is a slight network of glaze crazing, consistent with the age of the piece, as well as very small discreet chips along the edge. The decoration is well preserved. Diameter: 28 cm.
