Set of 8 dining chairs ‘Baletta’ by Enrico Delmonte

Set of 8 'Baletta' chairs designed by Enrico Delmonte and crafted in black lacquered beechwood in Chiavari, Italy during the 1950s. This 'Baletta' model is highly collectible and rarely seen in a set of 8. Its simple and slender lines with three horizontal lines on the backrest make it attractive for many interiors. 'Baletta', meaning 'little ball' in Genovese dialect, refers to the ball-shaped feet that are very distinctive. This design first appeared in Chiavari manufacturers' catalogues in the 1940s. The wicker seats are in very good, patinated condition. One of the frames has been restored, but otherwise in very good condition, as shown in the pictures.
