Brass wall sconce

French bronze gothic double piano wall sconce dating from the early 1900`s.the backplate is in a typical art nouveau style with a lug on the back for hanging and it is stamped with a thomas paris. The arms are decorated with a gothic dragon chimera and lead to decorative candle drip pans which each have 5 small holes to hang crystals if desired. The candle holders are decorated with a leaf detail. The sconce would have been fixed onto the sides of a piano or organ with candles lit to aid the players light, they can be adjusted easily by opening or closing the arms to suit. The castings and back plates are excellent quality and finely decorated with lots of detail, dragons, scrolled lattice work and leaves. The sconce is in good antique condition with a lovely deep aged patina. It as been cleaned but not polished so you can decide on the desired finish. Wall fittings not included.
