Walnut and mohair velvet sofa by Isa Bergamo, 1940s

This superb sofa, attributed to Isa Bergamo and dating from the 1940s, is an iconic example of post-war Italian design. Its crescent-shaped seat rests on a low walnut base, while its solid, round armrests and enveloping back create a curved silhouette that is both organic and comfortable. The wooden frame, upholstered in a very soft mohair velvet, reveals refined craftsmanship and a perfect balance of volumes. Fully restored, it retains the sculptural power of its forms, offering a rare and highly decorative piece, typical of post-war Italian Art Deco furniture.
