Set of 6 wooden and straw chairs

Good evening, I am selling this set of 6 very original straw and wood chairs that recall the work of Charles Dudouyt (1885 - 1946). They are in generally good condition, although the undersides of the chairs are damaged without affecting the structure and seating. In May 1922, Jacques Dudouyt founded a furniture company with the Parisian industrialist Jean Lemée, called "L’Abeillée", based in Pontoise, which was quickly relocated to Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône. The productions of L’Abeillée are contemporary with Art Deco, but stand out for their raw aspects, not lacking in originality. Due to the economic crisis, the company closed in 1931. Dudouyt moved to 60 rue d'Hauteville, then opened a shop called La Gentilhommière at 63-67 boulevard Raspail in early 1933, in addition to a workshop located at Butte-aux-Cailles, from which his increasingly refined furniture designs emerged, some marked by a subtle Africanism.
