Mid 20th Century "Pensive Nude" Swedish Portrait Oil Painting, Framed

A striking and emotive large mid 20th century modernist style nude portrait, executed in oil on canvas. A seated nude is depicted against a wonderfully painted backdrop. With her head resting on her hand, she is in a pensive pose, deep in thought. At first glance, this semi-abstracted depiction of the nude figure may seem simple, but as we spend time to look at the colours and brushstrokes, we soon realise its complexity. Using a wide array of colours including darker pastel shades and nude tones, the artist displays an excellent understanding of colour theory as layers and pairs of contrasting shades sit beside and on top of one another, blending together effortlessly and harmoniously.
