Description
Original model 1208 prototype anglepoise lamp; 1932-34, england. Prototype of the original model 1208, designed by george carwardine. Carwardine licensed this 4-spring design to spring manufacturer herbert terry & sons, who registered the name "anglepoise" and began mass production of the 1208 design. Anglepoise gives a lifetime warranty, and this model does not is no exception - it's still a reliable work light, with the unique 4-spring balance mechanism intact. The cast iron base is always firm and solid. The electrical wiring is original, but has a modern plug. Cosmetic signs of age, with worn areas of exterior black paint showing the metal underneath, and the shade has minor dents and scratches. Otherwise a lovely piece.
