Hand-knotted by the berber woman of the high atlas mountains, the carpets are made from raw virgin wool with an alternation of composted patterns of a single knot and one or two woven lines. Carpets are still made on traditional wooden looms. Berber carpets are distinguished by their abstract reflections and the techniques are transmitted from mother to daughter of the different tribes present in these mountainous regions. The writing found on the carpet tells a story, although it is no longer directly related to the woman who created it, they still share traditional writings and stories about rural life, femininity, spirituality, motherhood, marriage and careers.
