Vintage Scandinavian elm secretary, 1950s

Elm secretary with drop-front writing surface, internal compartments and three large drawers with metal handles. Scandinavian production, 1950s. Scandinavian secretary from the 1950s, crafted in elm and distinguished by the pronounced grain of the wood, particularly visible across the drawer fronts and curved drop front. When opened, the drop front forms a generous writing surface and reveals small compartments, shelves and an internal drawer. The lower section houses three large drawers with shaped metal handles, while the short turned legs introduce a reference to Nordic cabinetmaking traditions. The combination of writing and storage functions is characteristic of compact furniture designed for Scandinavian interiors during the mid-20th century. Good condition. It may show signs of age.
