Pair of antique paintings – Russian illustrations – Pushkin – antique frames

A beautiful pair of small old works on paper, depicting scenes from the world of Russian fairy tales. The two compositions, very graphic and colourful, are presented in superb antique dark wood frames with a warm patina, featuring mounts. The works are monogrammed LB / I.B. And showcase numerous details in colour and hand-applied highlights. The technique is currently being studied: original watercolour or enhanced old print. On the back, the works retain their old elements, including a mention referring to Pushkin (Puskin) as well as an old framing indication from Bucharest. A possible attribution to Ivan Bilibine, a renowned Russian illustrator known for his illustrations of Russian fairy tales and Pushkin, is currently being considered. This attribution is intentionally not presented as certain. A pair full of charm and character, ideal for vintage decor, a cabinet of curiosities, a library, or an eclectic interior. Dimensions of each work: approximately 13.5 × 9.5 cm with frame 23.5 X 29.5. Preferably sold as a pair.
