A discreet and old-fashioned charm for this U&C Sarreguemines fine earthenware dish, Stella decor: a delicate deep blue line, an elegant shape and this patina of time which tells a story and naturalistic floral motifs. U&C Sarreguemines stamp: The acronym U&C stands for Utzschneider & Compagnie, named after Paul Utzschneider, an industrialist of Bavarian origin who took over the management of the Sarreguemines earthenware factory in 1800. His successor Alexandre de Geiger and subsequent generations continued the development, creating pieces that were both popular and elegant: everyday tableware, bourgeois services, naturalistic or exotic decors... The U&Cie brand was used until around 1919, the date of the merger with other entities (notably Digoin and Vitry-le-François), after which the pieces were simply stamped Sarreguemines France. Made no later than 1919, this serving dish is a testament to the refinement of U&C production. Please note: a clearly visible hairline crack and a small chip on the reverse. These marks of time testify to its age and give it a great deal of charm. Length 24 cm, width 11, height 4 cm. To rediscover all the poetry of the tableware of yesteryear!.
