Add a touch of whimsical oriental elegance to your interior with this highly unusual vintage Chinese cloisonné enamel piece. Masterfully crafted in the second half of the 20th century, this object doubles as an asymmetrical decorative vase and a traditional scholar’s brush holder (Bi Chong), modeled in the charming shape of a celestial rooster. Built on a solid bronze base, the piece features an exceptionally rich, vibrant cobalt blue ground. It is meticulously detailed using the traditional cell-enamel technique, where delicate brass wires form swirling lotus scrolls and stylized feathers in vivid shades of emerald green, ruby red, warm yellow, and soft turquoise. In Chinese symbolism, the rooster represents high virtue, good fortune, and protection, making this piece not just a decorative object, but a conversation starter full of meaning. The interior and underside are finished in a smooth, signature turquoise enamel. Due to its rare, sculptural silhouette and two uneven openings, it looks stunning on a mid-century modern sideboard, a library shelf, or a desk. It can hold delicate dried flowers, calligraphy brushes, or stand beautifully on its own as a small art piece. The vase is in excellent vintage condition with a wonderful glossy finish. The enamel is perfectly intact with no chips or cracks, and the brass outlines have developed a lovely, warm authentic patina. Note on rarity: While standard round cloisonné vases and urns are widely common, this specific bird-shaped scholar's form is an absolute rarity on the market. Code 15. I provide Tracking number.
