DAR armchair with reddish-orange fiberglass shell on its original Eiffel base. Designed by Ray and Charles Eames in 1950. Second generation armchair manufactured in 1963 by Cincinnati Milacron for Herman Miller (recognizable by the “C” marking with star). Orange-red shell with lots of fiber, very good condition with no discoloration, cracks or deep scratches. Original shockmounts, screws and Eiffel base. The base in original black finish, surface corrosion in some areas which has been treated. Some welds repaired in the past. The Eames DAR armchair owes its name to its “Dining” height (D), its armrest (A) and its metal rod base (R). Introduced in 1950, it is considered one of the most iconic chairs in the history of design, often called the “Eiffel chair” thanks to its distinctive wire base reminiscent of the Parisian tower. Seat height +/- 42cm
