Watanabe Seitei birds among flowering branches Japanese motif

This sweet and poetic impression of a Japanese motif by the master illustrator Watanabe Seitei depicts floating clouds of flowering branches, stretched with fine bamboo sticks, while elegant birds move across a light green sky. The combination of soft green tones, ivory, and a subtle woodblock print texture gives the illustration a serene, almost dreamlike appearance. The composition is recognisable by Seitei's classic style, featuring slight asymmetry, refined patterns, and a rhythm reminiscent of Japanese kimono designs and naturalistic studies from the Meiji period. The print is made on a solid, slightly textured paper with a warm ivory hue, which brings it closer to the appearance of original woodblock prints and renders the colours soft yet vibrant.
