Vase in the shape of a crater from the Rometti factory in Umbertide (Umbria). Founded in 1927, it is one of the great houses of Italian art ceramics of the 20th century, particularly famous for its collaborations with Corrado Cagli in the 1930s. The flared corolla bowl rests on a deep cobalt blue glazed foot, enhanced with golden fillets. Two fully gilded volute handles frame the bowl, giving it a neoclassical elegance. The cream white glaze features a large hand-painted floral decoration. Large flowers and buds in shades of blue, from sky blue to indigo, bloom among cut foliage. The centres of the flowers and the veins of the leaves are delicately highlighted in gold. The rim of the neck and the foot are accented with a golden fillet. Under the base is the hand-painted signature "Rometti Italy" along with the model number 29. This is a refined piece from Rometti's post-war production. It is perfect for a generous bouquet or as a centrepiece vase. Dimensions. Height: 22.5 cm. Width: 18 cm. Condition. Good vintage condition. There are no cracks or restorations. There is a small chip in the glaze on the inner rim of the neck (see photo), a few firing spots inside, and slight signs of use on the gilding and under the base. Dimensions. Height: 22.5 cm. Width: 18 cm.
