Very beautiful square jewellery box by the famous ceramist Mithé Espelt (1923 - 2020). Measuring 13.5 X 13.5 cm and 6 cm in height, it is made of cream glazed stamped earthenware, with a floral decoration and cracked gold trim, and crystallised glass. It is in excellent condition as evidenced by the photos. Marie-Thérèse Espelt (alias Mithé Espelt) is one of the dominant figures in 20th-century ceramics in France. Based in the south of France, her grandfather introduced her to the upper echelons of the artistic and intellectual world, where she mingled with Jean Hugo, Jean Cocteau, Pablo Picasso, Christian Bérard, and many others. This great ceramist exhibited at the La Roue gallery in Vallauris alongside the greatest ceramists of the time. Each piece created is handmade, reflecting her commitment to quality and her passion for artistic expression.
