Large Sommerso Murano Glass Ashtray or Bowl by Flavio Poli, Italy, 1960s

Beautiful large mid-century modern murano sommerso glass ashtray/small bowl designed by flavio poli (italy, 1960s). Made of thick dark blue, blue and clear murano glass. Can be used as as an ashtray, small bowl or as a vide poche/catch-all. Original label still readable (can be removed very easily if needed). Width: 14.5 cm; depth: 13.5 cm; height: 6 cm. Excellent vintage condition. ''sommerso'' is a technique developed in murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly caused by a clear layer.
