Mandruzzato Sommerso Bol Faceted in Murano Glass for Caviar, Italy, 1960s

A magnificent Murano glass art bowl from the 1960s, hand-blown by the Luigi Mandruzzato glassworks (Molatura Vetri Murano). Made using the sommerso technique — developed and perfected in Murano and notably advanced by designer Flavio Poli — this faceted, hexagonal, diamond-shaped piece features polished sides and top, showcasing a vibrant combination of layers of transparent glass, light blue, yellow/amber, and red that beautifully capture and reflect light. An exceptional decorative piece akin to a jewel that can even be used to serve caviar. The bowl is in very good condition, with no damage. Diameter 5 inches, height 3.25 inches. Luigi Mandruzzato (born in 1934 in Murano) is one of the most well-known names in Venetian glass craftsmanship. The Mandruzzato glassworks, founded in 1934, became renowned under his direction for its mastery of vetri molati – hand-cut faceted glass. From the 1960s onwards, the workshop developed its iconic geometric sommerso vases and bowls, admired for their bold colours, clear lines, and crystalline facets.
