Gilbert Valentin "Les Archanges" - Vallauris - Signed artwork - 427. Gilbert Valentin was born in 1928 in Nancy. He discovered ceramics in 1946 in Dieulefit and was introduced to its various techniques. He trained through a professional apprenticeship at the National School of Vierzon in the ceramics department, then as a ceramic engineer in Lunéville Saint-Clément. In 1950, he decided to settle in Vallauris, where he founded Les Archanges and became friends with many artists of various genres, including Pablo Picasso. Gilbert died on December 31, 2000.
