Wardrobe

We have been restorers and conservators of furniture since 2005, carefully selecting and caring for our pieces. This magnificent linen cupboard is THE wardrobe that most homes had during the time of Napoleon III in France; farms, manor houses, townhouses, village houses—many families owned one, often one per bedroom. Today, we love to bring it back to life in large romantic bedrooms, Gustavian style or bohemian chic. This one is made of walnut, featuring 4 shelves, one of which has 2 drawers, and a large drawer hidden behind the lower crosspiece adorned with a medallion. Its original bevelled mirrors show some marks, a few scratches, and signs of wear over time but are in good condition. The pediment is carved with a shell and acanthus leaves, which can also be found on the legs. We particularly appreciate the delicacy of its shapes and the robustness of its construction: solid wood, cornice sculpted from the mass, thick mouldings, finely chiseled shell, harmonious proportions. The cupboard has been meticulously checked for functionality and condition, cleaned, and waxed in our workshop. Dimensions: H 248 W 122 D 46.
