The large carpet with white and archaic ground known as beni urain was created by moroccan mountain nomads. Thick carpets, but with a loose structure, were not used as flooring, but rather as beds and bedding. Effective protection against winter cold in snow-capped mountainous regions, the classic beni urain features a network of black lines on cream soil. The oldest carpets of the beni urain have extremely rich motifs.
