1980s Murano Ice-Textured Opalescent Glass Plafonnier Lamp by Effetre

An original vintage small plafonnier, or ‘flycatcher’, pendant lamp shade made of very thick opalescent glass with a smooth ice-like texture to the outside and an ‘overshot’ surface – which is to say there are small granules of glass fused to the surface during the blowing process – on the inside, both of which create a gentle, diffused glow from any bulb within. It is supported by very chunky chromed fittings and three lengths of chromed oval chain. It was made in the 1980s by the Effetre Murano glassworks, in Italy. The shade bears it original VM – Vetri Murano label, a consortium of furnaces that promoted authentic Murano glass under a unified brand, with the individual members denoted by a number. Effetre was designated 022, present on the label. You will receive the glass shade, the three chrome hooks, and three lengths of chain.
