Stunning mid-20th-century Turkmen Ersari main carpet. A quintessential example of Central Asian tribal weaving. This piece features the iconic 'Filpai' (Elephant’s Foot) Gülli-Gül motifs, set against a rich, earthy terracotta field with deep indigo and ivory accents. Unlike mass-produced commercial rugs, this carpet boasts a traditional wool-on-wool foundation, giving it a soft, supple handle and a heavy, blanket-like drape. The hand-spun wool is naturally lustrous, featuring beautiful abrash (natural colour variations) that add depth and character to the field. Design: Tribal Ersari Octagonal Guls with a geometric 'running dog' and floral border. Construction: Hand-knotted, 100% wool pile on a 100% wool foundation. Style: Rustic, Nomadic, Tribal. Like all old rugs it may show signs of use and these are part of the vintage look and not considered as faults. It is washed and fully dusted for you to enjoy from the moment you receive it.
