Suspended lamp designed by Louis Sognot, entirely made of natural bamboo, France, circa 1950. The piece is characterised by a vertically cylindrical structure of great visual lightness, constructed from curved bamboo rods that are hand-assembled. The design incorporates crossed geometric patterns and circular elements applied to the body of the lamp, ornamental resources directly linked to the chinoiserie language reinterpreted by Sognot in the context of post-war French design. The suspension system, also made of bamboo, maintains absolute formal coherence with the body of the lamp. It retains its original length (77 cm) including the upper element, the articulated chain, and the original wiring, a rare aspect as these lamps are often found shortened or with replaced parts. The inner diffuser lampshade allows for a warm and enveloping light emission, highlighting the bamboo structure and casting soft shadows that enhance the decorative character and intimate atmosphere of the piece. The lamp is in excellent vintage condition, with a uniform natural patina and no subsequent modifications.
