Sculptural Italian Tatlim side chair or dining chair, Marco Mencacci, 1990s
Sawaya & Moroni, Milan, Chair with Pierced Round Backrest, Maple Veneer and Aluminum. Chair by Sawaya & Moroni, Milan. Originally made as a dining chair. It has a square seat on four tapered round legs in ebony-stained wood. The backrest is a round disc of maple-veneered plywood, stained light, with a pierced, scalloped doily-style edge. It is mounted on a flat aluminum stem fixed behind the seat. This chair has visible repairs, which is why it is offered separately. The backrest edge also shows some orange-brown spotting along the upper right of the lace border. The aluminum stem has a brushed, lightly oxidized surface with marks. Please see the photos for details. These chairs should be used with care. The backrest is the vulnerable part and is known for showing wear. For occasional use or as a statement piece, this is not a concern. If the chairs will be used daily, we recommend handling them with real care, especially around the backrest. We will also list a second chair with visible wear, and a set of six chairs in good vintage condition. Prices will reflect the condition of each. Dimensions: H 94 X W 36 X D 39 cm. Materials: Plywood, maple veneer (stained light), ebony-stained wood, aluminum. Maker: Sawaya & Moroni, Milan.
