Pair of Horse-shoe Iron Armchairs in Catalpa Wood, China, 19th Century - Qing Dynasty.

Rare Chinese horseshoe armchair in precious wood. The curved upper edge with a circular section extends in a wide sweep to the arms, descending at an angle and extending to the hook-shaped handholds with rounded ends, supported by a back panel decorated with a relief rectangle with recessed corners, the lower panel carved with a pointed opening. The rear posts extend across the seat to form the back legs, with S-shaped side posts and straight front posts. The solid seat panel is placed in a frame with rounded edges, the curvilinear spindles with cusps forming an arch between the front legs and a simple arched apron between the side legs, an apron shape between the back legs.
