Old turned wooden case/box, 19th-20th century, mechanical? beekeeping?

Rare rural turned wooden case, handcrafted and likely popular, late 19th – early 20th century circa 1880–1910, possibly intended to protect the nozzle of a beekeeper's smoker during transport or storage, or to store another type of tool. Cylindrical body with turned threads, conical lid with a hole. Lid slightly darker. In very good condition, with a patina of use, sound wood, even wear, and a clean, unvarnished interior. Lid a bit stiff to open/close. An old agricultural or utilitarian object, ideal for collection or rustic decor. Approximately 300-500g.
