Art Deco Console Table in Thuja Roots, Birch and Silver-Plate, France, 1925

Overview. Elegant Art Deco console table (also suitable as a coiffeuse) from France, circa 1925. Compact, rectilinear silhouette with strong mirrored veneer figure and bright metal accents. Materials. Top and drawer fronts veneered in highly figured thuja (root/burl) and polar birch. Structural elements and drawer interiors in mahogany; silver-colour metal ornament and trims. Clear piano lacquer finish on surfaces. Design. Clean geometric Art Deco proportions with a pronounced mirrored-burl effect on major surfaces. Silver-colour central ornament, narrow metal trim along the case and metal-capped leg ends for contrast. Storage. Two shallow central drawers with horizontal silver-colour pulls and angled knobs at the top edge. Measurements. Overall: W 110 cm X D 47 cm X H 75 cm. Top plate (inner surface): approximately 105 cm X 45 cm. Origin. French manufacture, production date circa 1925 (1920s design period).
