Superb bedside table: accent furniture or nightstand in walnut burl.

Magnificent finish for this walnut burl bedside table (circa 1900). Its size and quality of craftsmanship make it a versatile piece easily usable in any room. Indeed, the brightness of the walnut, the sharpness, and the depth of its lines make it a piece that stands out immediately. It rests on 4 wheels that allow it to be moved, hidden under the scalloped base and highlighted by thick solid walnut moldings. It opens with an upper drawer whose front features a superb design centered around the handle. Below, a trompe-l'œil conceals, behind the façade of the first two "drawers," a compartment lined with white marble where a chamber pot was placed long ago. When the door is open, it creates a small ledge to place a glass, etc. The veneer inside the door is a bit damaged but nothing too bothersome. The door clips shut thanks to a brass latch that produces those characteristic little snapping sounds. Finally, there are three classic drawers below. Note the beautiful moldings that encircle the bottom of the piece, at three-quarters, as well as under the top. The molding even wraps around the back of the piece, making it visible from all sides (the back is also veneered in walnut). The red marble is in superb condition. It adds a lot of presence to the piece, both through the contrast of colors and materials and its weight.
