Superb vase - bottle turned from a section of Rosewood or Australian Pink Mahogany: "Rosewoodi Disoxylum Fraserianum", circa 1960 - 1970. Only the top of the object has been worked, allowing the natural beauty of the wood in the lower part to express itself, with all its reliefs and meanders... In addition to being beautiful, this object smells good!... Indeed, this tree produces a highly prized essential oil for its soothing properties... And it is very noticeable on the object! Beautiful turning work, closely related to the Californian works of Doug Ayers, who tragically died young and whose sculptures are highly valued in the United States... Under the base, a message in black ink indicates: "Rosewoodi Disoxylum Fraserianum, Timber Salvaged From Boomerang Creek, Rosebank", and a sadly unidentified signature... (That is, wood salvaged from Boomerang Creek, near Rosebank, New South Wales, Australia...) In very good condition, with small cracks on the neck, but let’s not forget that wood, even old, continues to "work"... It should be noted that this "vase" is only drilled up to about fifteen cms from the neck..., it is a faux vase, exclusively decorative... Dimensions: Height = 28.5 cm; Width = 19.6 cm; Thickness = 9 cm. Weight = 1.408 KG Extremely careful shipping at an additional cost.
