Vintage Clio chairs by Giorgio Cattelan for Cidue, black metal and wood.
These three Clio chairs by Giorgio Cattelan for Cidue have a silhouette that catches the eye. A black lacquered metal arch forms both the front legs and the backrest, a circular seat in bright red lacquered metal, with direct lines and no ornamentation. Everything in this design gets to the essence. The contrast between the black structure and the shiny red of the round seat is strikingly effective. Placed in a living room, dining room, or office, they impose an immediate chromatic presence without ever visually cluttering the space. The red metal seat version is particularly rare, much harder to find than the cane or leather versions typically encountered on the market. Moreover, these chairs are notable for their finely foldable aspect, allowing them to be stored and slipped into any storage space when not in use. Cidue is one of the iconic Italian manufacturers of the 1970s, whose lacquered metal productions are among the most sought after in Transalpine design of that decade. Giorgio Cattelan, founder of the famous brand Cattelan Italia, designed some of his most desirable creations for Cidue. Brand: Cidue. Designer: Giorgio Cattelan. Model: Clio. Date: c. 1970.
